Pearl vs. Fraxel
Pearl is a minimal-invasive laser procedure that renews the skin’s surface with less treatments and less
downtime than other technologies.
If you’re looking to improve overall skin texture, repair sun damage and minimize wrinkles and discoloration in
only 1 or 2 treatments
If you’re looking for a treatment that is fast, uncomplicated, and provides results within 3-4 days
All patients see immediate results after one Pearl treatment. Patients with moderate to severe sun damage
will benefit from two treatments, spaced one month apart.
Fractionated treatments, like Fraxel, treat only a fraction of the skin at each treatment. Therefore, a series of
4 to 6 treatments, spaced one month apart, is required to treat sun damage and the signs of aging on the
entire face. Each treatment is followed by a period of several days of downtime. Therefore, a total treatment
series requires many cumulative days of downtime. Also, multiple treatments are typically required before
patients notice any results.

Who is a candidate for a Pearl treatment?
Pearl is the newest and best way to renew the skin’s surface with quick results and less downtime than
today’s other technologies.

What does the Pearl laser treat?
Reduces fines lines and wrinkles
Smoothes uneven texture and discoloration
Repairs sun damage and reduces pore size
Gives the skin a overall glow and soft feel
What happens to the skin during/after a Pearl treatment?
The top layer of the skin (epidermis) is treated with pulses of light. This removes sun damage and brown
spots on the surface of the skin. The laser simultaneously sends heat to the deeper layers of skin to
stimulate collagen. This new collagen reduces the appearance of fine lines on the forehead and around the
eyes and mouth. Immediately after treatment, a natural dressing forms on the skin to protect the treated area
and prevent a wound.
The Pearl procedure treats fine lines on the face and neck,
uneven skin texture and light & dark spots caused by sun damage.
Pearl requires fewer treatments and less overall downtime than other
technologies.
During treatment, a fine layer of the skin is removed. But Pearl is
different in that it is only mildly ablative. While it does remove a fine
layer of the skin, the skin is left intact to serve as a protective dressing
while the skin below the surface heals.
Down time is 3 to 4 days as opposed to years ago, when resurfacing
came with weeks or months of down time.
